Sometimes, our computer can beocme clogged with all sorts of files and applications we no longer need and the simplest way ofr us to get our computer running smoothly again is to backup our important files, format our computer and re-install Windows.
Always back up needed files from your computer to a data pen, CD/DVD or a portable hard drive. Also backing up drivers can save time after the format, so you don't have to download them again.
Step 1: Make sure all your needed files are on a backup media.
Step 2: Insert your Windows 7 installation DVD and restart the computer.
Step 3: Once the computer has restarted the computer will boot up, go into your bios screen (Normally by pressing F2) and make sure that the boot options boots from the DVD drive before the hard drive. Save and exit the bios screen.
Step 4: When the computer reboots it will no load up from the Windows 7 installation DVD, this will then start to place the files needed to complete the install onto your hard drive.
Step 5: After the files have been copied to your hard drive a window will pop up asking you what language you speak. Click next after you have selected your language and then the "Install now" button appears click the button.
Step 6: Then the terms and conditions screen appears tick "I except" and click next.
Step 7: The next screen asks you if you want to upgrade or custom, you will click custom.
Step 8: The next screen is asking you what drive you want to install Windows 7 onto. Select "Disk partition advanced" from the lower left hand side of the window.
Step 9: This page shows you the list of hard drives and then a list of options underneath. If you select the drive you want to install Windows 7 on then select format from the options listed at the bottom.
Step 10: Once the format has completed your hard drive is now clean form all he old data and is ready for the install, click on the drive from the list and click next.
Step 11: Now Windows 7 is installing, it's copying files to your hard drive and then expanding them, once that is complete it then installs features during this time your computer will restart about 2 or 3 times.
Step 12: After the first reboot the same screen will show up again and tell you it's finalising the installation. Once it's completed that your computer will restart again.
Step 13: Once your computer has rebooted you'll find you're at the username and password screen, enter that your details in here then click next.
Step 14: The next screen is where you enter you Windows 7 licence key, once entered click next.
Step 15: Once you're key is typed in the next screen that appears you'll be asked to select the time zone you are in and what the time is. When you've changed the settings click next.
Step 16: The next screen will ask you about network settings these can be skipped and driver and other tools can be installed after Windows 7 has been installed.
Step 17: Next the Windows 7 installation will be the finalising setup screen. Once this completes Windows will start prepare your desktop for first use.
Step 18: When the last step completes Windows will do some quick Windows 7 settings changing a little window on the top left side of the screen will pop up but disappear after a moment.
Step 19: Windows is now installed, once its all loaded up properly if you click "start" or the Windows logo in the bottom left hand side, then click "All Programs" then "Windows update" you'll see a Internet Explorer window pops up and inside it has a button "Check for updates" click on that.
Step 20: Once Windows has checked for available updates you can click on the "install" button and follow the on screen installation.
